In celebrity news, after a three-week trial, the case is closed. On Tuesday, a jury acquitted rapper A$AP Rocky of his two felony charges. Rocky was charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm, stemming from a November 2021 incident in Hollywood, where a former friend claimed the rapper shot at him.
In music news, in a recent interview with Harper’s BAZAAR Rihanna, Rocky’s longtime partner, addressed the nearly nine-year mystery of when she will release new music. Rihanna did not reveal when the new music will drop, but she did share that it will not sound like anything anyone expected and it will be worth the wait.
In television news, the highly anticipated spin-off of Suits, Suits LA premiered last night. The spinoff does not take place in New York like the original. Suits LA focuses on a firm’s Hollywood clientele in California. The show features an entirely different cast than the original 2011 series. The series will star Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, Bryan Greenberg and Josh McDermitt.
Lastly, in sports news the owner of the New York Yankees, Hal Steinbrenner announced on Friday that Yankees players are now allowed to have well-groomed beards. The original policy that prohibited Yankees players from having facial hair had been in place since 1976. Steinbrenner admitted that one driving cause behind the policy change was due to some fear that the Yankees would not be able to acquire a future free agent because of the no facial hair policy.
