News at 6 is broadcasted from the WNUR-FM studios, located in the Barbara and Garry Marshall Studio Wing of Louis Hall, on the campus of Northwestern University.

The Daily Cat is WNUR News’ daily news brief, posted to our website and your favorite podcasting platform by 9 a.m. CST each weekday morning during the academic year.

Check-in with The Daily Cat on your commute to class, as you sit down with your breakfast or when you’re in line at Norbucks. Our staff will give you the campus, city, state, national and worldwide headlines you need to know to start your day off on the right foot.

You might hear a different WNUR News reporter each day if you become a regular listener, but all of our reporters have one goal in mind: to keep you informed, right through your headphones.

This is The Daily Cat.

Once per academic quarter—usually during Week 8 or 9—our News at 6 show is extended to a 60-minute runtime and is filled with stories focused on a specific topic, theme or show idea.

Previous topics include Fill in the Blank (examining ‘blank spaces’ in life as a college student), WNUR News: Unsolved (piecing together mysteries you can and can’t see), NU’s Declassified School Survival Guide (breaking down the not-so-known tips for Wildcats) and A.I.—Beyond the Acronym (any topic with those two initials).

Special broadcasts are conceptualized by the entire newsroom staff and are regularly submitted for (and winners of!) the Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Awards.
