About Us

WNUR-FM went on the air on May 8, 1950, and News has been part of the station since the beginning. What began as live reads from wire services has evolved into a decades-long tradition of original, award-winning audio news coverage in the Chicagoland area.

Today, WNUR News is Northwestern University’s only audio news publication. Live shows are aired on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00-6:30 p.m. CDT on 89.3 FM-HD1 in the Evanston-Chicago area. Our faculty advisor is Dr. Michael Spikes.
