Northwestern faculty and students gathered on Wednesday at The Buffet Institute for Global Affairs. The group discussed ways to strengthen the University’s global connection to the arts. Moriah Pettway reports.
In the high-ceilinged conference room, Dean E. Patrick Johnson started off by sharing his research on Caribbean art. He hopes to bring more voices into the conversation.
PATRICK JOHNSON: “And so one of the things that I’ve been trying to do is find ways at the university to plug in the arts, into every aspect of the university, and one way to do that is providing spaces of collaboration.”
Faculty pitched ideas like using music to connect with orphans in Gaza and collaborating with puppet artists in Vietnam.
Buffet is excited to help turn these ideas into action.
